Evangelism REVISITED/REFORMED

EVANGELISM , a theological staple, must become MUCH MORE about the “GOOD News” about the BAD News that is growing year by year: which is that Humankind, drunk on it’s “miracles” of production , driven by fossil fuels, has alternatives. And it is going to take the kind of local, national, and global collaboration that we already need to battle so many of our problems. The GOOD NEWS is that WE ARE a part of an INTEGRAL CREATION (an interdependent reality), and that in retooling our theology to help foster a recovery of awareness of our deep relationship to the ecosystem (and dependence upon it), we will renew the church to be an enabling and energizing place and people in a time of crisis.

(This post is a copy of the comment I posted to a Facebpok link to a UMC.org News story at this Facebook address: https://www.facebook.com/umnews/posts/10153457597434531 which links to this UMNS article http://www.umc.org/news-and-media/how-to-reclaim-ethical-evangelism. NOTE: I couldn’t post this comment to the UMNS article due to the UMCom/UMNS policy of closing comments after 7-10 days  Which leads to to say this,  which I initially posted on Facebook under my above comments,  but decided to say it less “in your face” style and post it here instead , as an addendum to my Blog post.  See below)

UMCom should consider re-opening comments on articles they REPOST, unless they DON’T want to have any feedback/discussion on that issue/topic/news, which, if that be the case, makes one wonder why they would post it at all, if the readers matter. Sorry, but that is the way just about everyone on the Web feels about such restrictions on online community. Can you imagine a Sunday School or Bible Study teacher mentioning a news item and then saying “But I dont want to hear any comments or questions about this since what I’m talking about happened over a week ago. Sorry, but I refuse to let you revisit or CONTINUE to have thoughts on the topic. Or, you can go over to this OTHER classroom (Facebook) and say it there” (which is what I’m doing here since I cant comment on the Website article itself).
