I have a tool for my WordPress blog that tweets an update that says “New Blog Post: Title of Post and provides the shortened versi on of the link to that blog post. I recently learned that I could include a twitter @ or # in the title that would then make the blog post notification show up under hash tags or notify the @user that there is a blog post about something they posted in a twitter update. That’s been working fine.
As I get deeper into the land of Twitter, I have been thinking about the separate account thing; like having a separate @theoblogical account. I’m not yet sold on that. I can easily see the usefulness of including hashtags so that my blog posts get categorized and certain ones will get “twitted†where relevant, to let interested parties looking at those has tagged streams that I follow that subject and perhaps have something of interest to them.
I hope there will be a twitter posting clientside way to post twitter updates with hashtags without having to use up the 140 character limit for posts; like some sort of header info that gets posted with Web forms. When certain blog posts contain certain blog tags, I want there to be a corresponding marker for twitter to be able to grab my updates that point to a blog post that rightfully fits the hashtag group.
