Dr. King and Time For Reflection

A Time to Think Strange Thoughts and Pray Long Prayers | The Village Gate Dr. King’s long prayers were not immediately answered upon his release from the Birmingham jail. His efforts to end segregation in Alabama and across the south sometimes sputtered frustratingly and sometimes surged gloriously for the remaining five years of his life, but historical perspective allows us Continue Reading

Hope even in defeat

KOS poses a challenge and congratulations, and a little remaining hope in the remaining votes to be counted in Ohio. Daily Kos :: Political Analysis and other daily rants on the state of the nation. You all have much to be proud of. But please don’t think your job is done, or that your hard work was all for naught. Continue Reading

CBS and ABC hold out

I’m surprised I can blog at this point….I don’t think it’s hit me. ABC and CBS have yet to cede Ohio to Bush. I am sitting here wondering how it can be “called”, with the number of provisional ballots involved, as well as the large number of votes yet to be counted in the heavily Democratic Cleveland area. But my Continue Reading

Judge Guy Cole Dissents on Ruling to Allow GOP Voter Hasslers

My previous post mentioned this case, which threw me into one of these sickened inner rages against the Facist Operations of this Criminal Regime the Bush administration has turned out to be. The Supreme Court is an arm of this regime, which is backing the “all of a sudden” interest in “protecting against voter fraud”, while they don’t seem to Continue Reading

Sickened at the system

Just before I came into the office, I heard on NPR that the Republican “challengers” are now going to be allowed in to Ohio places of voting, and that the Supreme Court refused to challenge that decision. The Supreme Court is a perfect example of what is wrong with this country right now.

Married Women, Wake Up!

Married women vote for Bush, single women for Kerry. They say they figure that “security” is important. Realize this, whatever percentage of married women who think we are “safer” under Bush……HELLO! The guy is CLUELESS, inept, dishonest, and doesn’t give a rip. He considers it more important to go on vacation than talk to his people about the “system that Continue Reading

Heh heh heh. Halliburton

The Seattle Times: Politics: FBI investigating how Halliburton got contracts The FBI has begun investigating whether the Pentagon improperly awarded no-bid contracts to Halliburton Co., seeking an interview with a top Army contracting officer and collecting documents from several government offices. The line of inquiry expands an earlier FBI investigation into whether Halliburton overcharged taxpayers for fuel in Iraq, and Continue Reading

Cornel West – Democracy Matters

No comments neccessary– these clips reflect exactly what scares me: CORNEL WEST–DEMOCRACY MATTERS IN OUR TIME: LOGOS SUMMER 2004 Free-market fundamentalism–just as dangerous as the religious fundamentalisms of our day—trivializes the concern for public interest. The overwhelming power and influence of plutocrats and oligarchs in the economy put fear and insecurity in the hearts of anxiety-ridden workers and render money-driven, Continue Reading

Yeah, THESE are the guys who will Protect Us.

Makes my blood boil every time these incompetent , corrupt people talk about how they are the ones who will protext us, and when I see polls that show people rate the Bush administration higher on “The War on Terror”. The Bush Administration was too busy downplaying Al_Quieda because they thought it was a “Clinton thing” (since the Clinton Administration Continue Reading

Clearly? NOT

David Aikman writes on Beliefnet. I don’t know who he is (but he did write a book with Bush A Man Of Faith : The Spiritual Journey of George W. Bush) I am not prepared to say Bush is not a Christian, but I have grave doubts about whether it should be said that this is “clear” as Aikman puts Continue Reading

Conservatives Defecting From the Bush camp

Yet more from the Gore speech, on the massive defection taking placer among arc-conservatives who are beginning to notice (or finally speaking up after having enough of it) Blog for America An increasing number of Republicans, including veterans of the Reagan White House and even the father of the conservative movement, are now openly expressing dismay over the epic failures Continue Reading
