As one might tell from my posts today,  I was impressed with Obama’s political courage today.  He refused to REJECT OR REPUDIATE Rev. I do not ascribe to the more messianic sounding things like “Change You Can Believe In”,  because I what I think is a healthy skeptical distance from national government in contrast to the people of God as incarnated in the church.  I am skeptical of what can be done with “the system”,  but Obama has brought that problem to the front,  and Hillary cynically attacks him for his idealism (mainly because,  I think,  she is green with envy that she cannot sell the notion like Obama does).  I further think that the reason she can’t sell it is that that’s NOT where her heart is.  She wants to “run the country”,  and Obama wants to change it.  Now that’s certainly tending to sound like a cliche,  but that’s my sense  as to why I want Obama to have that shot at it,  and why I think she’s unelectable.  She’s too entwined with special interests , never been where Obama’s been,  and she is all-too-susceptible to the political winds (so she could not stand up to Bush on Iraq,  and held out until the tide of public and political opinion was glaringly obvious).   And I don’t think she would ever have stood up for a pastor and a church the way Obama did today.

We have yet to see what he can get done in Washington, but I like what I saw today. I like it a lot.
