When I went to HP’s driver site to get the new drivers for Vista for my Scanjet 4470c, I was greeted with this:
We are sorry to inform you that there will be no Windows Vista support available for your HP product. Therefore your product will not work with Windows Vista.
If you are using the Windows Vista operating system on your computer, please consider upgrading to a newer HP product that is supported on Windows Vista. HP has numerous products on the market that support Windows Vista.
HP Products – HP Scanner Product Is Not Supported in Windows Vista
I all of a sudden developed buyer’s remorse for having purchased an HP desktop which of course came with Vista. My previous computer is an HP also, which I had running XP Pro, which ran my scanner fine with its supplied drivers. It’s not THAT old of a scanner, but I guess it’s not going to be an HP whenver I get around to getting a scanner. I’ll probably just connect the HP scanner to one of the older computers, like I’m having to do with my LaserJet IIP+ , which has a parallel port connection, which is becoming a rarity on computers (my new one doesn’t have one)
(Update, about 5 minutes after posting this post: I’m over my remorse now. it wasn’t a very severe case. I was just pissed off. I still like the computer)
