S&P actually singles out GOP for reasons for downgrade. Page 4, Boehner!

Page 4 of 8.  Come on Media!  Do some informing of the American public,  would you please?  And , not that I care, S&P,  about your motives anymore after the economy crashing stunt you pulled by your precious “ratings” which turned out to be utter, deceptive crap  (why isn’t your leadership in jail and your operation shut down?),  but to play the “equivalency game” by calling out “Congress” as a whole in your initial bullet points on page 1,  and then actually get to specifics that it was the GOP who did the brinkmanship/hostage taking that was really what you were citing.  And then the wonderful mainstream media that we have focuses only on page 1,  and the major news outlets all quote from Page 1.  Who are these media people?  George W. Bush,  refusing to read anything longer than a page?  FU, media,  for your continued shirking of your responsibility to actually report the news.

To those of you who can read:

We have changed our assumption on this because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues, a position we believe Congress reinforced by passing the act.

And it’s the tax cuts that they are fighting tooth and nail to defend.  These idiots are fundamentalist extremists,  and their “target” is the US economy,  and their aims are to bring on a “Norquistian” dream (a nightmare for the regular folks who live in reality) and drown the economy as we know it (or used to know it  –they’ve been at this for 30 years, you know.  When VP Cheney was asked if he wasn’t concerned about the deficit being piled up under his administration,  his answer was:  “Reagan proved deficits don’t matter”.    This should lift the veil of the phony GOP “debt crisis”.  I’m not saying that deficit reduction is not a matter to be dealt with.  But this Republican frenzy over spending is exactly a manufactured “crisis” in that they now suddenly care about it.  And add to that the economists insistence that job growth trumps cutting deficit by spending cuts;  that the only way to get deficit under control is to restore jobs,  is clearly NOT what the GOP wants.  And it IS what the American people are CLEARLY telling them.

Barbara Ehrenreich , in an interview on DemocracyNow just 2 hours ago,  laments that the “Arab Spring” is not also being played out in America.  Only 6 months ago when Arab Spring uprisings were catching the attention of the world,  the US was talking budget,  and the Ryan plan unleashed a backlash against those who voted for it.  We need to STEP THAT UP now as we see yet further evidence that the GOP is stepping up their radical agenda to further ensconce the rich regardless of the consequences to those who are excluded from their private bubble.  And as I have insisted here,  the church needs to show itself as one who knows the machinations of empire and who are,  in that story of God’s people,  engaging and resisting the powers.
