Just found this video on Google Video.   Hedges knowsthat of which he speaks.  He has been there,  and closer to “everywhere” than anyone I have ever heard of,  as a war correspondent in a staggering amount of wars.  His book,  War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning,  Hedges displays his ability to capture,  with staggering emotion and detail,  the horrors of war.

I have recently been engagedin  discussion with some folks on this topic,  and these are church folks,  taking the side of the “neccessity” of the war tactics (or denying that the tactics are as they appear, and using the same clueless right wing justifications,  which amount to “the ones who report on war are left wing radicals and they are lying because they hate America. “  So you see there the depth of the absorption of the lies of empire,  and the work the empire has done in generating the educational and social structures and learning systems which drill into us the “practicalities”of having such things as our “defense”,  so that we can “enjoy the liberties and freedoms” that we do as Americans.  Uh-huh. 

Looks like I’ll have to get this book.  Preferably the audio.
