Oh my gosh. Wince. This is what a commenter said on a Christianity Today article about Tim Tebow’s 3:16 eye black message and how it caused John 3:16 to be the number one Googled term in the hours after the BCS championship, according to Google Trends.
My wife and I concluded that maybe the most important thing Tim Tebow has accomplished is to get the message out that it is cool to be a Godly man.

This makes for good press, but my gosh, how shallow. All you Wild at Heart fans, rejoice! A victory for real manhood.
Another commenter:
While it is admirable that Tim Tebow is so up front about his faith, what is tragic is how unprepared the church is today to take advantage of the widespread interest which was a result of his witness and strategically be "present" in Google search results.
Oh, so this is an example of “be in the world but not of it Be “in the world†via Google search results? That’s “witness That sounds more to me like seeking to be “relevant†on the world’s terms; which usually means accommodation. I’m not saying having it show up on Google is accommodating, but using this as an “accomplishment†and setting the church up as “relevant†due to attention garnered from a football player who happens to be Christian, this seems out of touch.
