I wonder if you have noticed that Mr. Osteen is not a teacher of the Gospel of Jesus, but a motivational speaker and the primary promoter of the American prosperity Gospel that is poisoning millions of minds all over the world?

Why is Mr. Osteen pre-featured on your front page? Why is his book highlighted? Is it because Mr. Osteen’s power to create sales is the “golden goose” in publishing and you are going to ride his sales as far as possible? I can’t believe it’s because, as a business serving Christians, you actually believe that what’s best for us is the teaching of Mr. Osteen, who has said that the cross of Jesus and the historic orthodox Christian message are of no interest to him.

It’s utterly disheartening how much of a theological wasteland stores like Family Christian Stores have become.  The last “pass by” I did in a mall featured a table up front with t-shirts featuring flags and “God Bless America” all over them.  What a great standout item to have in the front of people passing by. 

The last time I actually went in and looked at the bookshelves (which occupy less and less of these “Christian stores”) ,  the amount of fluff is staggering,  and the total  lack of books on the church.  It’s all “Devotional” and “Christian Living”,  which rarely touch any real issues of Christian living at all.  OK. Enough blog space wasted.  Sorry,  it just stuck in my craw,  and this post by MSpencer brought it all up.
