I've noticed for many years now that Rachel, for all her stellar and outspoken coverage on a wide range of topics of great importance, a rather stunning silence on the Ecological Crisis, even as the Crisis accelerates over the past 10 years. Now this. Pope Francis was CERTAINLY an advocate for the migrant.
But, seriously, a eulogy on Francis without a single mention of his persistent focus on the Ecological Crisis? Really? This has reached a curiously AVOIDANCE stage with this.
Just a week or so ago, Rachel did a show on the Trump Admin's attacks on a wide range of government agencies and DOGE's attempts to dismantle things, but there , too, NO MENTION of the widespread attacks on the Environment and Climate Mitigation efforts.
I don't think Rachel is involved in any "coverup". I just think she has what I have come to see as "Progressive EcoCrisis denial"; that apparent malady of Progressive advocates who don't quite have a sense of the urgency of the Ecological Crisis.
I've also written before about how this may also be exacerbated by a LACK of narrative amongst many Progressives to articulate, and thus, be able to cover the Crisis. They don't seem to have availed themselves of the background information that has "lit the fires" of urgency for journalists who have paid attention to what the Climate Science community has been warning about with increasing urgency.
