Bush’s Monica Problem: MSNBC.com

This keeps just snowballing. Isikoff is such a good reporter. Everywhere we look, there’s some secret that Bush wants to keep under wraps. It’s so apparent to anybody reading any news with any ounce of integrity (which basically leaves out Fox News) that this is the most corrupt administration in history.

Bush’s Monica Problem

Gonzales, the president’s lawyer and Texas buddy, is twisting slowly in the wind, facing a vote of no confidence from the Senate.

No administration with this many holes in nearly every area they touch can be given any legitimacy. I mean, their campaigns of secrecy and then their cynical manipulation of willing media outlets and religious groups is appalling even to the most thoroughly secular or nationalistic folks (at least those who haven’t fallen prey to the blind allegiance that seems to plague those who combine their nationalism with a dogmatic fundamentalism that makes it seem nearly impossible to convince them that all of this is anything but “God’s man” in the White House , this man who once said “Sometimes you have to put religion aside when you have a job to do” when asked a question approaching the idea of “would Jesus do this?” referring to the Iraq. No problem, irrelevant question, there’s “the job we gotta do” and then there’s Jesus, his “favorite philosopher”.

I don’t have a solution to this. Especially after the sellout of the Democrats in the war-funding bill. Way to stand up to the guy that calls himself President. What a disgusting mess we have in this political system. The only accountability being shown is to the “winning posture”, which is turning people off in droves. Most disgusting in all this is the silence of the churches. As the nation “celebrates” Memorial Day with cookouts and boats and skiing, and churches sing patriotic songs, and even those who know this is all wrong retreat into liturgy and say that the “response” is there (which I agree , it is) , but I don’t hear much talk about just how this stands in the way or stands apart from what this nation is doing. It seems that there needs to more articulation about just how the celebration of the Body of Christ stands against this tide of nationalism and , in particular, this blasphemous mix of nationalism and Jesus.
