I’ve spoken out before about the extreme claims of the “Methane bomb” in the arctic crowd – which is a cottage
industry on the web, and has a lot of people freaked out.

I was lucky to interview several experts at the American Geophysical Union conference in December, including Carolyn Ruppel, who leads the US Geological Survey’s Gas Hydrate
project, and so is one of the world’s leading experts on the
issue.

Spoiler: Yes, we have a big, big problem – but when someone
tells me about imminent Human extinction, I tell them we
are not getting off that easy.
We are still in the driver’s seat, and need to recognize this
problem and take responsibility.
