Somebody tell me what I’ve done wrong in MT here!

I keep seeing the home page Text problem, and it’s driving me nuts! Why do the category and archive homepages work fine (the text wraps in the browser window width, but the main index (home) page scrolls right on off the page! Somebody send me a copy of their index template where they don’t have this problem. (I’ve had this problem since I first installed MT, so don’t tell me to restore my original).

I’m not seeing the problem you report (Mac OS X, recent Camino).

One possibility is that the default MT templates use a XHTML 1.0 Trans doctype, which is pretty darned strict relative to HTML 4.x.

Try running your MT main index page thru the W3C validator to see the discrepancies–

    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://theoblogical.org/movtyp/

Paring the errors down to zero can be a satisfying exercise. And I wouldn’t be surprised if you find your problem goes away as a result.

    MIke,

I did get all the XHTML problems out until the page validated, but alas, the problem remains. I put back my Links list that was the last stuff remaining, since they were in some MTIncludes, and so were easily put back.

    Mike,

I also don’t see the problem using Netscape 7.02

Do any of you IE 6.0 users get this (mine is 6.0.2800.1106)

Maybe a reinstall or upgrade of my browser? I’m aslo running XP Pro.

I am viewing this from my second computer, n Win98 using IE5. No problem here either. Is it IE6, WinXP, or Movable Type using IE6?

I’ll go check my son’t XP (assumably, also IE6, but probably an earlier version of IE6)

Ah! MY son’s PC has IE6.0.2600 , but has the same problem! Thought I might just have a defective IE6. Are there known issues with IE6? It’s just the main index template. All the other templates I’ve noticed do not have this problem.
