Is it REALLY the end of Men? – Bob Sabath – God’s Politics Blog @bsabath

I was directed to this post from two directions this morning.  First ,  I saw a re-tweet of a Sojourners article from @craigadams49.  Not having followed that link yet,  I had decided to call my friend, Bob Sabath,  who has been “the Web guy” and “the tech guy” for Sojourners since he,  Jim Wallis,  and a few others founded Sojourners around 1970.  In that conversation,  Bob told me about a recent blog post he had put on the sojo.org blog site that raises the question about Men’s spirituality,  and points to Richard Rohr’s “Men’s Rites of Passage” network,  and an event coming up next month at Rolling Ridge Retreat Center in Harpers Ferry , WV where Bob lives and administers and maintains the events that are hosted there.  (Bob also did a good portion of the building of the facilities there with his own two hands!)  I’ve visited there a couple of times over the past 5 years.

Back to the post.  When Bob told me about it,  I immediately said “I just saw a tweet about that”,  and sure enough,  the link was to Bob’s post.  Then I saw the quote from Rohr I featured in my previous post,  and immediately it struck a chord with me.

Bob has been telling me about Richard Rohr for a few years.  Somehow,  I never ended up looking up some of his writings and checking him out. Here are a few of the things I have looked up that can serve as some additional “tastes” of Rohr’s work:

from a segment of NPR “This I believe”

an interview in Sojourners magazine

July 2010 Sojourners article “Boys Don’t Cry”
