Where Are Tags in WordPress?

Technorati tags: , ,

Why must we depend on plugins (which have all types of effects,  including breaking all kinds of stuff) to use tagging in WordPress?  I want a tag cloud,  and a way to include it on my site by a simple “Show Tag Cloud” option,  and some usage of tag additions in the New Post editing procedure.  Community Server does this by default (I’m still trying to get my blog imported into Community Server,  but alas that is not happening until I can successfully copy over my 5 years of posts.  It’s frustrating that it was so painless and easy to go from Movable Type to WordPress,  but seems to be a road to nowhere.  I have what I thought was a successful export of this blog into BlogML,  (it has opening and closing <blog> tag,  but apparently it has a problem according to the BlogML spec –ie. Community Server tells me it has a “wellformness” problem. So where are the validators that I can feed my file through and identify for me where my BlogML is not not wellformed?)

Back to tagging.  I’ve tried a couple of plugins,  but they don’t seem friendly to my K2 theme.  So, I seem stuck at the moment.

(Note:  the Technorati Tags listed at the top of this post were put in by Windows Live Writer,  the tool I use for most of my posts)

I have a tag cloud on my wordpress blog. But I think it depends on the template. Looks like you have the full version which I don’t have so I’d think it would be under “presentation” and “widgets” and then you just drop it in from the bottom. Tags in wordpress are the categories. But I think wordpress just searches for terms in the post itself.
