Gore’s major accusation is that the media, especially television and its ability to manipulate with imagery,  is a major ally in the efforts of the elite to solidify their own influence and power.  There is no doubt.  Fox News , in the hands of one the world’s most ardent supporter of the dominance of the elite, Rupert Murdoch,  is always honing their manipulative prowess.The mainstream media (or “the others”, Network news, CNN, MSNBC) slide along the scale of ‘careful, calculated coverage” to “lapdog status”.)  It is telling that Jon Stewart has become for many a preferable source of news.  Indeed, his audience is presented with the issues in ways none of the major news outlets or Fox would dare to address,  albeit through the lens of humor, satire,  and lampoon.
