Quite a passionate and needed rant from somebody inthe media. I feel the same sort of outrage, although tied more to a recognition of the futility of “political parties” to “fix this”. But somewhere in there, somebody has to recognize that the system has failed us (AGAIN— but certainly the signs are there to make it all the more obvious…..and we have at the helm a bunch of corrupt, rich, back-slappers who care for nothing other than building up their own wealth by making deals with the powerful.
Olbermann appeals to some “sense for democracy and ideals of government”, but that is part of the system that has constructed this. But I feel his rage. But the lament “How long , O Lord?” is more appropriate. I’m not even so sure the loss of seats for Republicans was so CLEAR a vote against Iraq as it was a backlash against all the corruption and indictments. After all, Liebermann won his independent election, and was FOR the war, and still is. But he’s not a Republican.
But on the basis of corruption alone this should be a no-brainer. But , even with that, the Iraq debacle is another , and the corruption plus the War have crossed over into one another (the billions of dollars of cash unaccounted for and projects abandoned but no sign of the money).
Anyway, Olbermann lays it down starkly.
A Special Comment about the Democrats’ deal with President Bush to continue financing this unspeakable war in Iraq—and to do so on his terms:
Keith Olbermann
This is, in fact, a comment about… betrayal.
