protect and empower the rich and ignore the rest

No doubt, ThunderMan.

I also don’t see the Vice-President demanding that the government seize the financial records of Bechtel or KBR.  It seems that war profiteering is protected by privacy, but the financial records of citizens are not.

In short, if you are powerful and wealthy, then the VP deems your privacy as a right that must be held even despite overwhelming evidence of corruption and public will for investigation; if you are an average citizen, then your financial records are free-game.

This administration’s MO is protect and empower the rich and ignore the rest.  Cheney’s most recent discussion is only confirmation of this maxim which we have seen in taxes, environmental policy, and war.

No disagreement at all.  Well blogged.  I often refer to such operandi as money laundering.  They wrap up favors, perks,  and hob-knobbing for posts and various types of support to keep feeding the machines that funnel riches to the top.  Even though this has gone on through time immemorial,  this crew is the most unabashed, cynical,  and disgusting at it.
