Oblivious

via Jesus Politics: The following is quite ironic, considering how oblivious such folks are to the obvious teachings of Jesus against violence, and the fact that we must “love our enemies” — and somehow translating that into an acquiescence in the ways and legitimacy of war. Brian McLaren – A True Son Of Lucifer – Moriel Ministries

McLaren states that “Many of us (assumedly so called pastors of his ilk) do not know what to think of the homosexuality issue having considered all of its aspects” and McLaren suggests a five year moratorium on making a pronouncement.

If McLaren does not know what to think about what God has clearly stated about such an issue, how can such a man be regarded as a Christian, let alone a pastor?

This guy is one of those “propositional truth” worshippers, modernist through and through; of the “Al Mohler” ilk (but not quite as polished). (He also mentions Tony Campolo and others in a list of “dangerous heretics” —

Remarkably McLaren has even eclipsed Rick Warren, Robert Schuler, Steve Chalk, Colin Chapman, and Tony Campolo as a benchmark in quantifying departure from God’s eternal truth revealed in His Word (and that is no small achievement).

I have no clue what he’s upset with Rick Warren about. Maybe his saying something about his concerns for global warming (oh, wait.. I believe Warren has supported or even sponsored work with AIDS relief; that might have done it– you know, the gay thing and all the ignorance that always associates AIDS and homosexuality) Such “propositional” people seem very up in arms about “messing” with the status quo, and so they pick at their exegesis with a litmus purity test list that’s a mile long.

ahhh, why do I even waste my blog breath on this?
