On The Daily Show interview with Al Gore, when he is saying that nothing else has been a greater danger to the actual survival of the planet as this global warming issue, Stewart asks, “what about nuclear? I think it has a shot”. Gore replied by implying that the threats are not so intense as they have been in the past. As I read James Carroll’s history of the Pentagon and his descriptions of “the powers” that seem to have taken hold there, I see this as a “fault-line” that could threaten at any moment, especially in these days of an unapologetic “One Percent Doctrine”. While not at all new, it seems to be rampant and hubristically championed by Neocon operatives behind the scenes.
