Not Sectarian

Regarding my previous post and these discussions on the Radical Orthodoxy and political engagement issues, I DO NOT think Eric is being sectarian. I think he’s doing what I also am doing. Seeking to be formed by the body of Christ, and let that be the driving force.

It seems to me that this has repurcussions on the issue of gifts, and whose gifts are meant to do what, and how divided or unified the church is. I have a hard time seeing Jim Wallis being Smith’s poster child for “warning” us about the slippery slope of errant stances toward the world. While I can agree with the basis for Smith’s “concerns”, I still have a problem with the tone he takes, and wonder if this is the kind of “correction” he thinks is appropriate from one Christian brother to another. (And I DO think that such discussions around “correction” are warranted. But the key here is “discussion”.)

Thanks bro. Actually, my comments in a previous thread about accusations toward my way (and like-minded folk) about being “sectarian” were perhaps more passive aggresively worded toward another conversation I had on another blog where it was used in the context of “‘sectarian,’ for lack of a better term.”

Thanks for being willing to engage in these matters, bro.
