I Can’t See that I see this AT ALL

Here I believe Wallis is FAR too kind. Perhaps (and it is likely) that he is much more diplomatic and charitable than I.

High Stakes For Church and State, Sojourners Magazine/November 2004

From what I have seen and heard of George Bush (including in small meetings and personal conversations I’ve had with the president) I believe his faith to be both personal and real. And I also believe that he has a heart genuinely concerned for poor people. But I think the president is often guilty of bad theology. On the issue of poverty, George Bush believes in a God of charity, but not a God of justice. And after Sept. 11, George Bush’s theology became much worse and much more dangerous.

Another possibility is that Bush has never had much of a real theology, and that this is manipulation, deception, and THUS, BLASPHEMY, (which literally means ‘to make stink’ of The Name) Bush and the administration USES religion for their neocon, greedy, selfish purposes. The president may do an excellent fiegning of concern and talk a good talk, but all activity to the contrary, the Bush administration has an OVERALL aim at giving everybody out to make a buck the free-est reign possible, public safeguards be damned.
