On Reports that the CIA is seething at Bush

Daily Kos :: Political Analysis and other daily rants on the state of the nation.

CIA rage at the smug neoconservative theologians who took us into Iraq is nothing new. There’s been bad blood since well before somebody – are we EVER going to find out who? – outed nonproliferation expert Valerie Plame 15 months ago.

It’s not been the greatest few weeks for George W. Bush’s team. Bad news from the Iraq Survey Group, from a loose-lipped Paul Bremer, from the New York Times’ aluminum tube reporters. To know that some of the intelligence experts who urged more caution in assessments of Iraq before the war are on the move against you, and that you can’t do much about it, must be particularly galling for officials in an Administration known for punishing everyone – Congresspeople, journalists, generals – who cross them. Vengeance is a helluva way to run a government. However, in this case, it couldn’t happen to nastier, more deserving guys.
