I was just debating this with a Bush supporter today, one who often describes Bush as “God’s man for the job of President”.

George W. Bush is among the most openly religious presidents in U.S. history. A daily Bible reader, he often talks about how Jesus changed his heart. He has spoken, publicly and privately, of hearing God’s call to run for the presidency and of praying for God’s help since he came into office.
But despite the centrality of Bush’s faith to his presidency, he has revealed only the barest outline of his beliefs, leaving others to sift through the clues and make assumptions about where he stands.

I wonder what Bush does with the Sermon on the Mount, or with any of Jesus’s words.
You know, the funny thing is I’ll bet Bush reads the Bible, but I don’t think he gets anything from it. Consider this passage:
“The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice” (Proverbs 12:15).
Does Bush listen to advice? No, he doesn’t listen to what the majority of people want. He has that religiously inspired “I’m right because I have God.” that will lead to either his, or this country’s, downfall.
