Mr. Jordan, in the movie Heaven Can Wait, said something like this:
“The likelihood of someone’s being right, increases with the intensity with which others are trying to prove them wrong”.
This comes to mind when I went to the Amazon Reviews page for Joseph Wilson’s book. 67 of them! And most of the reviewers made it a point to rank all the ones who slammed Wilson’s book and Wilson himself. As some pointed out, most of these reviewers left considerable doubt as to whether they actually read the book (and if they’re anything like their hero, they probably didn’t)
The funny thing aboujt all this is that the BUsh supporters quickly accept any discrediting done by the very party who Wilson is claiming deliberately deceives the public, thus further illustrating the point, which those who have to defend Bush at all costs. But why wouldn’t they?
After being amazed that there as many as 67 reviews of Wilson’s book, Clarke’s book, when I went there just after writing the above, has 458 Reviews! What’s interesting here is that 274 were 5 star, 50 4 star, 18 3 star, only 9 2 star, and 107 1 star! A Pretty good indicator with the biggest numbers at the very top and bottom of this obsession with discrediting.
Wilson’s breakdown: 67 reviews, 5- 36 4-6 3-2 2-0 1-23 same exact pattern
Suskind’s The Price Of Loyalty book, about Treasury Sec. Paul O’Neill, was heavily skewed toward good reviews (5-184, 2-60, 3-19, 2-11, 1-15)
House of Bush, House of Saud (73 total, 51, 11, 6, 0, 5 — good positive numbers again)
Don’t know what if anything this proves or disproves, but thought it interesting.
