My prior theological focus , before my “Eco-conversion”, was the Occupy movement. Before ecoecclesia.org was my blog address, it was occupytheology.org (both urls still work, in addition to theoblogical.org ) This woman is strong in both economic justice and the ecological crisis!
So pumped to see Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez speaking so strongly on both! I feel my “Occupy” sensibilities are still very much alive in my “eco” sensibilities, since the ecological crisis is actually a result of the economic injustices that have been rampant for centuries (for all time, actually, but we all know how the spread of injustice has been expanded in the industrial/technological age).
The response AOC gave to the White House below is a call to action for churches to act on this and demonstrate how we truly believe that God loves the world!
“Genesis 1: God looked on the world & called it good not once, not twice, but seven times.
Genesis 2: God commands all people to “serve and protect” creation.
Leviticus: God mandates that not only the people, but the land that sustains them, shall be respected.” https://t.co/AhWd3vuVBd
