The Absence of the Ecological Crisis from so many lists of top problems/concerns

Wow. I am in one of those temporary funks, which happens to me a lot when I read something by an esteemed theological thinker who presents a “list” of “essential” things like a book list or “biggest issues” list, of 5 or 10 or 20, and not ONE of them has anything to do with the ecological emergency in which we are living. And this is one of the reasons why. Especially when many of these people , WHEN ASKED, will often be quite articulate about how they agree that this (the ecological emergency) is a truly important issue, but then carry on with their reflections as if it never occurred to them that this might need to be something that needs to “crack” their top 20 (or 10, or 5, or , heaven forbid, make it’s way to the top). This is what call “practical agnosticism”. That , in practice, this is not REALLY an issue. It simply highlights the predicament of the silence of good people who still , apparently, struggle with actually recognizing the existential threat we face.
