Climate not a “top story” amongst UMC Communicators

So here  (also shown below),  on UMNS’s Facebook page,  they posted an article “News Poll:Top 2015 stories” ,  polling UM Communications workers,  and Climate didn’t make the top 5.  And I commented that this is symptomatic of the problem of neglect (and dare I say,  “repression”;  pushing such realities out of view and only bringing them up when it is glaringly obvious.)  Check out the comments below it.

Dale Lature Nothing about Climate here? Big problem that Christian communicators can miss this. Maybe this is because there’s hardly anyone aside from Climate activist groups doing the writing? How about someone in denominational news taking notice of what’s happening with what science is telling us and with what’s happening from the grassroots. UMC is hardly alone, but it becoming a GLARING lack of attention as the evidence and the world movements grow.

Dale Lature My prior comment is also in the context of what just happened yesterday and this past week in Paris, where a UMC delegation was present. The UMC media needs to get with it on this. Its not like the church needs any help in failing to address the issues we face as we continue to deny that we are facing extremely difficult times as the impact snowballs over our civilization.
United Methodist News Service
United Methodist News Service Dale Lature, as you might guess since this story posted on Friday, the vote took place before this weekend’s news from Paris. Also there will be a story posting today on church involvement in the accord.

Dale Lature
Dale Lature Doesn’t really matter that the vote took place before this weekend. This whole Crisis has barely been on the radar in UMNS or on UMC.org
Dale Lature
Dale Lature It ought to have it’s own “Special Coverage” as a topic every bit as important and crucial as any other in that category (and not to minimize the importance of any of the others…but just to recognize the extreme dangers and theological issues at stake here).
