A Treat at Vandy

Weinberger and AKMA at Vanderbilt tomorrow (I’m there , man) speaking on Internet and Weblogs in education. Cool!

The seminar descriptions:
The Internet has already made a significant impact on the practice of teaching in higher education, and teachers and students continue to develop and discover new ways to use it. A panel anchored by two David Weinberger (co-author of The Cluetrain Manifesto and author of Small Pieces, Loosely Joined, a cultural commentary on the World Wide Web) and A. K. M. Adam (Associate Professor of New Testament at Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, author and editor of a number of books and articles, and Project Codirector of The Disseminary, a new project dedicated to exploring ways that digital media can support learning in religious studies and theology apart from the infrastructure of institutional education) will explore issues related to the Internet and higher education.

Weblogs – web-based online journals, updated frequently to present a person’s reflections and explorations on a topic or many topics – are all the rage these days. Journalists are keeping them. Politicians have them. More and more academics are starting them. And there are weblog projects underway at Harvard and Stanford. Join visitors Weinberger and Adamin a discussion of ways in which weblogs might be used in university teaching and other academic work. A seminar discussion, limited to 20 participants.
