Robert Parham raises and issue today that I knew , going in to this conflict, was going to be a key moral issue: the conspicuous absence of the coverage of civilian casualties. We have heard “mention”, but the most glaring omission is the absence of images. I noticed on Sunday night, when looking at things like “Images of War” photo galleries on MSNBC, like Parham, that these are images of military and victory, not the images the vast majority of people in Iraq are experiencing. Even now, ABC news is showing video if people running and celebrating in the streets, pulling down the statue of Saddam, and other images that proclaim to the world “YOu see, we did a good thng”. The images that thousands of Iraqs see, however, is the horror of the death of loved ones.
