A CBN documentary was doing a piece on how preachers don’t preach “The Doctrine of Hell” as much anymore.  They interviewed several fundy-pundits and various preachers in “successful” churches.  CBN’s message seemed to be that it’s all in being “politically correct”.  I would add that preachers are finding out what characteristics of God are more appealing,  which is especially important to seekers.  The more fully initiated can be expected to explore more fully the “judgement” aspects,  and hopefully,  steer images of Hell as a place of punishment to a “state of separation”,  which is NOT God’s desire.  So much “hellfire” preaching comes across as the hidden desires and hatreds of the speaker or the interpreter whose message the speaker is delivering.  Read more in “Fire and Brimstone”
