Finding a Reason to Belong

I read this today in a Fast Company article,   about how people perceive that there’s not enough time to “belong”.  That’s true until they find a reason to belong.  Once that’s there,  other things drop off or down on the “to do” list.  That’s a large part of my argument in favor of Churches getting serious about online story-telling.  When people find something in your church to which they can “belong”,  then you see the benefits,  because so have they.

Affinity Membership to civic groups like the Boy Scouts and Lions Clubs is approaching an all-time low — because there’s no time to participate. But people still crave the emotional satisfaction of belonging. (from an article in Fast Company: Idea Fest: The New Business Conversation Starts Here. 23 Bright Ideas for a Stellar 2003)
