Book Says Bush Just Using Christians

Haven’t I told you?  The Second “Faith-Based”  director to smell a rat.  Tempting Faith: An Inside Story of Political SeductionAnother sign/bit of evidence  to suggest (now,  for the second time…at least)  that Bush’s “Faith-based” initiative was political maneuvering, and never actually supported with the  funds needed.  John Diulio,  the previous “Faith-based initiative” czar,  told the same story to Ron Suskind over two years ago. How many more such testimonies are needed to suggest to the “political” Christian Right that they’ve been used by someone not at all interested in them except for their votes?

More than five years after President Bush created the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, the former second-in-command of that office is going public with an insider’s tell-all account that portrays an office used almost exclusively to win political points with both evangelical Christians and traditionally Democratic minorities.

He says some of the nation’s most prominent evangelical leaders were known in the office of presidential political strategist Karl Rove as “the nuts.”

In fact, when Bush asks Kuo how much money was being spent on “compassion” social programs, Kuo claims he discovered the amount was $20 million a year less than during the Clinton Administration.

Calls and e-mails to the White House have not been returned.

 

Seems like there have been an increasing number of such calls to the White House on various and sundry matters.  White House remains “PUZZLED”.  More like BUSTED.
