A Recommendation from Good Will Hunting

manf_consent.jpgI was talking to a friend of mine the other night, and he mentined that in his re-watching Good Will Hunting the other night, that Will mentioned to the Robin Williams character that Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States was a great book, and Williams’ character asks “Better than Chomsky’s Manufacturing Consent“?

Which of course made me want to see what Chomsky’s book was about. I had read many quotes and leafed through some of his books in the bookstore, but this one made me curious enough to look deeper. So I picked up a copy tonight from Borders (co-authored with Edward Herman). Don’t know how much I will read how soon, since I am hitting my stride with The Peaceable Kingdom and have my sights set on getting The Hauerwas Reader for my birthday next Sunday.
