Eric asks, in his post on the revelations of the British intelligence, what THEY were finding out about how disingenuous Bush has been with the American people. Eric asks “How Much Evidence Do They Need?” I keep asking that myself. The clue, I think, is in seeing how this is self-deception. The Right and the loyal GOP people are NOT , by and large, bad people. But there is some glaring buildup of blindspots; it seems a refusal to accept what would seem to be, to the “disloyal of us” , evidence which has been plain enough. They simply laugh it off, as if it can’t possibly be that they are being deceived. They think they’re too smart for that. And yet they unquestioningly accept almost wholesale the opinions and talking points disseminated over Fox News which is owned by one of the world’s riches executives with a self-proclaimed political axe to grind, and whose office sends down “directives” to their News organizations on many a given day about what to pound home that day (from several former news people employed by them). They laugh about this too as if to dismiss it as paranoia or sour grapes is all they need do to convince themselves; and as if it is unlikely that a conservative filthy rich exec would be as apt to be corrupted by the almighty dollar as they would easily believe a liberal rich executive certainly must be.
Wake up, people. The hits just keep on coming.
