Faith Without Works is Dead

KOS’ observation here is what REALLY peeves me about Bush—-all talk and NO walk. Like a lot of Churches. Bush regurgitates several “Christian Right” talking points, and then refuses to elaborate when giving the opportunity (“You’re trying to trick me aren’t you?” and then proceeds to ignore the question. Seems to me, Mr. Bush, that “evangelical” Christians — at least the variety of evangelical you recognize as your “base” — would be all for your “testimony” about what you mean when you say “Christ changed my heart”, which was asked of you by a secular reporter, and you said “Well, if you don’t know already, I really can’t explain it to you”, forgetting how Paul wrote “Always be ready to give a defense for the hope that is within you”….in other words, JUMP AT THE CHANCE to dialogue on your faith. But I don’t see you as anxious to do so.

Daily Kos :: Political Analysis and other daily rants on the state of the nation.

The strong statements by Kerry on faith and works (Bush is all faith, no works), as well as his very human joke about marrying up is likely to help him.

Bush constantly lauds his “NO Child Left Behind”, but I no of NO actual teachers of children who laud it; in fact, they say it is a program designed to be a “positive” but is given no chance to succeed becuase it is massively underfunded, and is obseesively devoted to “upping test scores” —-ie. “Constant pressure to “prepare students for the test”. The Texas “success” in Education was thoroughly EXPOSED as a “paper-based” success, for when an investigation of drop out rates was undertaken, massive coverups and “cooking of the books” was taking place. TALK. NO WALK.
