Speak the Truth

From Eric’s post Sunday night, rehashing the craziness that baffles us all that comes from the bowels of the Bush administration; the “anti-truth”, “pro-deception” administration. It’s their modus operandi. It’s sickening, and all I can do to remain sane is to HOPE; and to grab on and hold on to that. It makes all the more real the lament of the Psalmist: “How can we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land? By the waters of Babylon we hang our harps” (Psalms 137)

Eric’s Tasty Morsels of Thought

Eric: As a Christian, my own tradition has a long history of speaking truth to power. Unfortunately, there’s also a long history of Christians being surrogates for the violent aims of the state (the crusades, and now the “war on terror”), but I believe we can do better. Aside from being in solidarity with the poor, oppressed, and hungry, speaking the truth to power is something vital that defines what it means to be a Christian: speaking and telling the Truth.
