This is moving toward peace: To take concrete steps to get back to the Table, and to truly give peace a chance. This is not a dismissable statement as the Right Wingers would have you believe. This is the call of the gospel. And despite what the fanatical miltarists of the Religous Right say (read: heretics) , on the most basic of Christian tenets: “Love Your Enemies” and “Do unto others as YOU WOULD HAVE THEM do unto you”. Would they be in favor of having another country — say a U.S. clone nation — accusing us of “harboring terrorists” and being unwilling to “dismantle our own weapons of mass destruction”, to attack our land based on “immanent threat”— and I believe that the US itself poses on eof the most serious immanent threats to world peace

Instead, I’d say, “God, we, as Christians, have failed to be your Church. Please help us to be a true inspiration to the world–that light on the hill– and allow us to be peaceable representatives of your Kingdom here on earth.”
