Compasionate Conservatism passes by on the other side

As the Islamists* have hijcaked Islam (of the world’s billion Muslims, it seems that a million or less are either engaged in planning and/or supporting violent jihad….which is a lot, but still less than 1 tenth of 1 percent of Muslims). At the same time, it seems that a much larger cross-section of Christians are approving of returning violence for violence, which too, is an agregious distortion of the Jesus way. A growing minority has become fed up with the “Christianity” of the Relgious Right. As the violent jihadists are a distortion of the true spirit and teaching of Islam (ie., he who kills one soul kills all), so too is the alarming and increasing blind allegfinace of the Religious Right to an administration that has made a mockery of the truth, and speaks of Compassionate Conservatism, which in reality, “passes by on the other side” as the religous leaders in Jesus’ Good Samartian parable did. (Read this great speech Kerry gave to the National Baptist Convnetion)

Four years ago, George Bush came to office calling himself a “compassionate conservative.” Well, in the story of the Good Samaritan we are told of two men who pass by or cross to the other side of the street when they come upon a robbed and beaten man. They felt compassion, but there were no deeds. Then the Good Samaritan gave both his heart and his help. (Luke 10)

It is clear: For four years, George W. Bush may have talked about compassion, but he’s walked right by. He’s seen people in need, but he’s crossed over to the other side of the street.

(* the name for those who wish to see an Islamist state, many of them, as it has been explained to me, appear to be the radical right extremists, or are sympathetic to the tactics of the extremists)
