Book Bag

I’m carrying about 5 books these days……There’s James Carroll’s Crusade, Brian McLaren’s A Generous Orthodoxy, Joseph Wilson’s The Politics of Truth (which I jumped back into when I heard him interviewed on the Uncovered: The Truth About the War in Iraq (which is available at Border’s – 9.99 — or at Best Buy —7.99) , and there’s Bob Graham’s Intelligence Matters, and Seymour Hersh’s Chain of Command, both of which I began reading in earnest after the PBS NOW presentation on the 9/11 Commission. There are many upset 9/11 families that have become outspoken about the lack of a Bush administration’s having a clue about what was happening, or what to do on that day, regardless of how those Bushies would have us believe that the people of the US should see them as the most capable of protecting them. Sorry Bushies. You blew it. You’re not only a sorry excuse for “dependable intelligence” , but you’re ineptness, caused by your DEADLY dose of absolute HUBRIS has cost thousands of lives, here on 9/11 and in the aftemath, in Afganistan and Iraq.

I’m still in the middle of reading Hillary’s Living History. I’ve taken a break from reading it to work on some websites, though, and to catch up on my magazines: 2 back issues of The Progressive and 4 back issues of The New Yorker.

After Living History, though, I’m going to read a friend’s recommendation which is a book about possession. I’m really not into that kind of stuff because I don’t think that every other person is possessed, but since he’s been nagging at me to read it for a year or so, I figured I’d concede to it, and then move on to more important stuff, like Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s The Cost of Discipleship 🙂
