As I say in the comments, the memos may be real. CBS hasn’t provided satisfactory answers, in my view. I hope it will.
I also agree that this situation is made to order for people who want the attention to be taken off the bigger story.
— Do I believe Bush’s family influence got him into the Guard in front of many more qualified people? Of course, and I believe he and his family have been lying about it.
— Do I believe Bush blew off his duty? The evidence certainly suggests that, too, and Bush hasn’t given an ounce of persuasive evidence to the contrary.
By the way, I can’t help contrasting the right-wing bloggers gleeful deconstruction what may be phony memos with some folks’ continuing promotion of Swift Boaters for “Truth” — people whose falsehoods and distortions have been made abundantly clear.
