Sojo accused of “thinly veiled partisanship”

This post from a sojo subscriber of 20 years has me shaking my head in disbelief. How can someone actually read this magazine for 20 years (I’m assuming that he liked what he read), and then fail to see that Sojourners would be doing this to any party platform which so blatantly transgresses basic trust, integrity of leadership, and claims “divine leadership” without accountability.

God is also not an American.

But yeah, I totally thought the SoJo petition was right on. And I think it was important to put “is not a Republican” first, because it is the Republicans who constantly claim that God is on their side, as exemplified by the Falwell and Robertson quotations they posted in conjunction with the petition.

    Amen to that too.

Check this out. I wear that to work most Fridays (casual day). I also wear it on antional holidays, in lieu of “patriotic” stuff since 9/11, so obnoxious is the celebratory stuff. I have always been very patriotic (in terms of getting all goose-pimply when I see a good film or somethign on the better aspects of America (like when our government is trying just a bit harder to improve things for EVERYBODY, not only the normal people and the needy people, but the others in the world……I always loved the hall of Presidents in Disney World……now , when I go again, and see Bush II, I don’t know what I ‘ll think.

This is the shirt I wore when I went to Billy Graham’s “crusade” thingy in May of 2003, and when I went to my parent’s ultra-patriotic church “service”/production this year on the 4th of July (let me know if it doesn’t show up).

One sleeve says “Shalom” in Hebrew, the other says “Students for Social Justice,” and the small print on the front underneath the crosses says, “God chose to save the world with a cross — others choose to use bombs.”
