Washington Post: Bush is not concerned about bin Laden

Perfectly in tune with all the testimony about the absolute dedication of the Bush administration to the proposition that we have nothing to fear from terrorism. It’s really quite unbelievable. During all of 2001, from Jan 21 when the Bushies entered office , until Septemebr 10th, 2001, the administration exhibited the ultimate cluelessness. In fact, they were a picture perfect example of a corporation without a clue, as the authors of The Cluetrain Manifesto would put it. They were the most abject failure in history when it comes to “listening to the conversation”. In fact, the people they failed to listen to were their own apointees to the various expert positions (O’Neill on the economy, Clarke on Anti-terrorism, Tenet on the CIA…….Al Franken, with his extremely lampoonish comedy that is also extremely scary, calls it “Operation Ignore”, and I had read about it in “The Price Of Loyalty, about O’Neill, and Against All Enemies: Inside America’s War on Terror by Richard Clarke…..the American Public has even heard it, about the memos and warnings, and still……the apparent successful “Operation Spin the News” while “Ignoring” is mind-boggling.)

Anyway, here’s a statement by Mr. Bush that one would think would be SOME MINOR INDICATION that what the Bush team is trying to tell the American Public should be a bit SUSPECT (if I can be so bold?) NOT THAT CONCERNED?

The Unnamed Enemy (washingtonpost.com)

“Terror is bigger than one person. And he’s just — he’s a person who’s now been marginalized. His network is — his host government has been destroyed. He’s the ultimate parasite who found weakness, exploited it, and met his match. He is — as I’ve mentioned in my speeches, I do mention the fact that this is a fellow who is willing to commit youngsters to their death, and he himself tries to hide — if, in fact, he’s hiding at all.
“So I don’t know where he is. You know, I just don’t spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you. . . . I truly am not that concerned about him.”

I guess that fits their lack of willingness to pursue ANYTHING other than their hard-headed, calamity-inviting determination to do everythign they planned on doing when they took office (which was NOT what they talked about in the campaign. The result of this, is a growing and what will soon become a catastrophic drop in credibility. The amount of support for Kerry, hardly the dynamic public speaker or figure, should be sufficient evidence to tell us all that this is all about getting these absolute dufuses out of the White House.)

Kerry may well prove to be much more adept and effective than the media persona and public speech highlights we’ve seen (I was actually pleasantly surprised by his acceptance speech. YOu see, I listened to what he actually SAID more than I paid attention to “how much he was swetting”, as if this is supposed to be some sort of negative commentary on him. In what is clearly one of the most important speeches in recent history — a speech to convince undecided Americans that he is compentent enough to be president and has a plan so that this calamatous administration can be ousted — and then hopefully prosecuted for their lies, neglect, and dereliction of duty —– a speech of such magnitude SHOULD make one sweat.
