A new main MT template, please!

How can I find AND INSTALL an index page template for this page that has the links on the right (all the stuff, the calendar, the Category and Archive links, everything onthe left on my index.html page) so I can see if this fixes my “overflowing/non-wrapping” text in the entries on this page. This does not happen on any of these posts on teir archive or category pages. I am trying to find a solution.

One option MIGHT be: Create a new weblog, and use the same data. Is this possible? I can then add back in my little template things like Category listings and my Blogroll. Is there a “safe” way to do this?

Dale, are you using a boilerplate template from MT or one of your own creation? If it’s a standard template, what modifications have you made to the layout?

When I moved from RU to MT I wanted to keep the same layout. I was using one of Bryan Bell’s designs for Radio and had to do some re-jigging to make it work in MT. Most of it was the, for me, trial-and-error placement of DIV tags.

However, a quirk that broke the page in Mozilla had to do with the placement of my SiteMeter script. I have an invisible counter, which I had at the top of the page, just inside the opening BODY tag. It worked in RU, but not in MT. I had to move the script to find a place where it wouldn’t break the page. Even now, if you visit my site in Mozilla, you’ll see two dashes from the script being rendered at the top of my menu bar.

I still have a quirk in the page. When you hover over a link in IE, the line shifts a couple of characters to the left.

I realize I have no solution for your problem, but maybe this triggers something for you to check out.
