K2 Theme, WP 2.3.1 and IE6: Bad

In the two or three column version of K2 and WordPress 2.3.1,  IE6 hangs and won’t let go until you kill it with Ctrl-Alt-Del End Process in Task manager.  Someone using IE6,  which I no longer run at home,  pointed this out to me.   I know it’s K2 also because choosing another theme removes the problem.  been looking for a Continue Reading

Categories and Tags

After converting my categories to tags in WordPress 2.3,  I still have a backup of my old categories and their assignment to various posts,  and plan on adding them back in as Categories,  and keep all the newly assigned former categories also as tags.  I see a slight difference in them,  unlike what is implied in this setup in WordPress.  Continue Reading

WordPress 2.3 and Windows Live Writer Beta 3

Article that tells how to get new WordPress tag support working in WLW b3. Seems to work (notice the Tag list below this post). Now I’m going to become a tagging monster. I also upgraded my K2 theme to a new version when I upgraded to WordPress 2.3.  Things seem to be working nicely.  I decided to try a three Continue Reading

WordPress Tag Support?

I’m a bit miffed at WordPress claiming to have added tagging to the new 2.3.  I am running 2.3, but I find that I have to add code to actually add the feature.  I expect to have a tag cloud in the sidebar and tag listings below each post.  Community Server  does this (btw,  I’m still working with getting my Continue Reading

Movable Type 4 Fails

MT 4 has failed several tests.  This is why I moved off the platform and onto WordPress in the first place. 1. SLOW SLOW SLOW when you have thousands of posts like I do.  The template republishing is the same reason why I moved from Radio Userland. 2. The Dynamic publishing is too difficult for a non-PERL person like me.  Continue Reading

Tag RSS

del.icio.us tags: tags, facebook, mirrored blog, Tag RSS Pretty cool…..on my test/experimental Community Server blog, which is mirroring my regular WordPress blog, I added my Facebook Notes feed, which I expect will start posting my Facebook notes as posts. And then, on the Community Server blog, it keeps track of all the WordPress blog post categories as tags, as well Continue Reading

Global Neighbourhoods: Facebook. Is it my global neighbourhood?

My core concept was that the social media sites were not the key relevance, but the way people self organized along topical rather than geographic lines was. That we and no more than 200 online friends would bop from one site to another finding each other time after time after time. Yes,  the “Social Networking” buzz is morphing before Continue Reading

LiveWriter Back in Biz with WordPress 2.2

The images work!  Yes!  After several versions,  it looks as though the LiveWriter/Wordpress image upload problem has been fixed (at least on this test).  (Wait a minute……that test was from my office machine……using 1.0.109   at home I have 1.0.1.6…..I’m trying to find that earlier version to use here at home……I wish Microsoft would fix it all with a new release……there Continue Reading

213 test for Live Writer

windows live writer test for wordpress 213.  Images still don’t work from live writer!   Rats!  I sure wish Wordpress could  get this right.  It worked so well for so long.  I thought that when the upgrade description said they had done significant improvement to the XML, that this would be the case.  The blog world seems to be getting less usable. WordPress 2.1.2: Problems Again With LiveWriter

It seems the latest WordPress upgrade has AGAIN broken ties with LiveWriter. This is getting annoying. LiveWriter works fine with Community Server, even after upgrading it to beta 2 last night. For some reason, WordPress causes LiveWriter to error with this: The response to the metaWeblog.newPost method received from the weblog server was invalid. but the post does get posted Continue Reading
