A good article written from interviews and observations re: #occupyNashville. Some of the conservative sentiments are typical and condescending.
It’s the following kind of statement that simply alerts me that someone has bought into the secular version of the dualistic fallacy;
core of conservatism is personal responsibility, and that is completely the opposite of their demands. We don\’t believe prosperity should be punished
“Personal responsibility” is the secular equivalent of “personal salvation”, which removes the focus from the abuses of the entrenched, corrupt power and blindly lifts up the quickly shrinking hopes that “anyone can make it”. And for me, these people in the church who espouse such subservience to the state and blindness to its abuses are real heretics. The “left” espouses a solidarity with the masses (and yes, for many of the “entrenched left”, this too is a smokescreen), but the Right has bought into the narrative paid for and dessiminated by the think tanks and advertising dollars of the media empires such as Fox News, right wing radio, and , with Citizens United, who knows who else?
