Google Reader’s Shared Items

I have recently rediscovered Google Reader,  and I like the “Shared Items” thing that I have added to my sidebar to the right.   It allows me to “mark” articles found in my RSS feeds for “highlighting” and display in a public “Shared Items” section.   I just added one this morning and added a “Note” to it,  but was a little disappointed to see that this note only shows up if one uses the Read More link at the bottom of the Shared Items Widget window,  and then look at the entire article.  The note shows up as a quote balloon above the article.

In this case,  I wanted to preface the reading of the article with just what it was that interested me about this article.  Craig Carter and I differ in many ways,  but I like his theme in this piece (with a few quibbles).

I like Shared Items.  They seem like a Google Version of social tagging,  like Digg and Delicious.  I wonder if there is an aggregated “Shared Items” that one can get to by tag.  This would make it much more like Digg and Delicious.
