It's long been a thing with me to shake my head in disgust when I hear "AI" , because the most important use of "intelligence" should be to help us to build a civilization that works for everything and everyone. It's a tall task, but if there was ever a project on which we should be aiming it, it is helping humanity see what needs to be done to stop the ecological destruction. There are ways, and we refuse to pursue them. AI should also be telling us that we need to get over our refusal and see reality, and why. It's all about pointing AI to the data in the sciences, social and economic disciplines, and get to work. It could help us with the HOW also. But we are proceeding with the wrong priorities. Anything that does not first seek to realize sustainable ways of life is doomed to be mortally wounding for everything and everyone. All life is interconnected. AI could be helping us see the many ways this is true. But the wrong people are designing it for something else. It could be said that an AI's designers/builders need an 'Initial Intelligence'
