The Democrat’s Bank Problem

Of course, this simply exonerates Trump in the eyes of his supporters, since DEFLECTION is their number one argument on everything. The reality is, Obama was never one to hold the banks accountable. He was firmly in the tradition of the “new Democrat”, garnering alliances with the powers that be while pushing a narrative of being firmly on the side of economic justice. It was loudly initiated with the Clinton scrapping of Glass-Steagall, which enabled the debacle of the 2006-8 implosion of the economy. Candidate Hillary was also firmly in this camp, cozying up to the banks, and fiercely evasive of that fact. It remains as a deep threat to the future of the Democratic Party, and a showdown that is being deferred right now by the circus of the Trump debacle.

“While Trump granted 5-year exemptions to Citigroup, JPMorgan, and Barclays, and 3-year exemptions to UBS and Deutsche Bank, it should be noted that his administration is not the only one to have done this. As International Business Times noted, “In late 2016, the Obama administration extended temporary one-year waivers to five banks,” which just happened to be the same ones Trump has now extended the exemptions on—revealing the real rulers in DC.”  — from The Free Thought Project
