More omission of Eco-concerns in Progressive concerns over Trump

(This one hurts. It’s hard, because I am a HUGE Michael Moore fan.  But I have much reason to hope here.)

Here’s a post by Michael Moore,  and it raises , once again,  a deep concern I have

Michael Moore Just Told Trump The Top 6 Reasons Why He’s An “Illegitimate” President

I have to say, something here disturbs and dissapoints me deeply, as much as I agree with the entirety of the rest of it. #5 talks about Exxon CEO Tillerson “making a lucrative deal with Russia” (which is certainly undeniably bad), but mentions NOTHING about the impact such a thing would have upon the Climate. Again, the Progressive concerns don’t see the need to MENTION the Climate. See why I get concerned about this? It seems to be an indicator to me that we are facing the same kind of problems that outright denial pose for our acting on Climate. Distraction. EVEN WHEN, with issues like Tillerson, the Climate Crisis issues are written ALL OVER IT. Shaking my head.

I don’t get it. Michael Moore cares about the ecological crisis. I just wish he would talk about it a little more, as if it were a REALLY URGENT thing. When talking about Exxon and money, our earth’s ecosystem is always a concern. Unfortunately, companies like Exxon work to try to keep it from being so. Micheal is such an important and strong voice. I hope he will experience something which brings our Eco-crisis home just a little more, so that he can apply his incredible story telling skills and passion to this issue!

(I posted the following back in November on a Facebook post:

Michael Moore, when are you going to do a movie on our ecological crisis? We need talent and wit and insight such as yours to help focus us on that. You are one of our generation’s great story tellers and BS detectors! The Climate movement needs you, even in the midst of this Trump debacle. Indeed, it represents THE single biggest danger Trump poses to humanity and the planet’s systems of sustaining life as we know it.

Just put these two comments on Michael Moore’s Facebook post about this article:
Michael, I have followed you and watched your movies for years, and read most all of your articles. You are an incredibly important voice. I just want to tell you that I know you care about our Ecological crisis. But I hope it can become an even bigger and more unmistakable part of your message.

Your 5 reasons why Trump is unfit is a great piece. I agree with ALL of your points. But what’s missing , especially in #5 when you talk about Rex Tillerson and Exxon is that you talk about the economic interests, but don’t mention the ecological dangers.

When talking about Exxon and money, our earth’s ecosystem is always a concern. Unfortunately, companies like Exxon work to try to keep it from being so. …..when I say “I hope you will experience something….”, I am not saying that you need a “change of heart” or some big realization you haven’t had yet (although we all experience such things all the time). I’m just thinking about my own experience, only 2 years ago when, after reading and listening for 25 years about ecological things, all of a sudden I realized the urgency, and that our leaders talk about it from time to time, but not on any kind of scale that would indicate just how serious things have gotten. I have gotten so much inspiration from you over the years from your films and from your writing, and hope that this can become a bigger and bigger focus (among your many exposes for which you have become such a trusted and energetic voice). I do (or try) a lot of communication of this ecological message, and I often look to you for various models of how to do effective communication, because you are such an awesome story teller. That’s why the Climate Movement needs you more than ever!
